<work package> – New Dialog

Used to create a new work package.

Opens when you right-click Work Packages in the Work Package dialog and from the pop-up menu, select New Work Package, and then select the type of work package and the discipline.

The title bar of the dialog displays the type of work package, the discipline and the activity type, for example, Installation Work Package - Pipe Install - New.

SettingDescription
Boundary

Lists any boundaries that were created and saved.

Assign Boundary

Confirms the selection made in the Boundary field and applies the boundary to the work package.

Include components intersecting the boundary

Turn on if you want to include in the work package the components that intersect the boundary.

Component List

Shows the name and type of the components included in the current work package.

Selection Level

Lists the different levels of selection. What displays in this list depends on the discipline selected.

For example, if you select Pipe in the Disciplines dialog, when you open the Work Packages - New dialog, the Selection Level displays these options:

  • Pipe Iso — Selects everything in that Pipe Iso Level, such all valves, field welds, and miscellaneous components, such as supports and support guides.

  • Component — Adds only those components that are selected.

Add

Adds the component to the work package.

Remove

Removes the component from the work package.

Task List

Displays the work package tasks to be performed before completion with budgeted hours, linear footage, and total number of tasks.

Right-click the column headings in the Task List to get the Customize Columns option. When you click this option, the Attribute Configuration dialog opens, which allows you to change the order of the columns, hide or show columns, or rename columns. Controls on this dialog are analogous to those on the Project Schedule Attribution Configuration dialog.

Unselect components after Add or Remove

When on, causes the selected component to become unselected in the 3D model after either adding it to or removing it from the work package.

Select Prev(ious)

Restores the components to the color they were before they were selected for work package inclusion.

Re-apply Color

Recolors the VCM according to the work package component status.
